About the company
Humankind Research is an insight and strategy agency specialising in research for social good. Tom, Gail and Jess started the business in 2017 with a clear purpose: to use research to amplify the impact of communications, products and programmes that have a positive impact on people and planet. We aim to live this purpose every day through the work we do and how we behave as a business. We are an accredited B Corp, part of a movement aiming to redefine the world of business to focus on human and planetary, not just financial, success.
We work for charities, government bodies and corporates (on their social impact / purpose programmes), and our clients include Nike, Unilever, Macmillan, Shelter, the Wellcome Trust, Sport England, and Amnesty International, amongst many others. We work with these organisations on projects to understand different audiences experiences and how they think, feel and act on a range of social issues; how they respond to brands and adverts; and products and services they might need. We use these insights to provide strategic recommendations for our clients to help develop brand and comms, NPD, policy recommendations, and services.
We’re 10 permanent employees and a close network of freelancers; we work remotely, but have a strong and vibrant team ethos and culture. We aim to meet up at least once a month as a full team, have weekly meet-ups for those who want to join, and have an annual retreat.

Required skills and experience
Our ideal candidate would have 1-2 years of qual project management experience and/or administrative experience; gained in a market research organisation, or in an adjacent category such as social research, academic research, advertising, marketing etc, or in a charity or social business where you were involved in audience research projects. Ideally we’re looking for someone who has experience of recruiting qualitative market research respondents in partnership with fieldwork agencies, though this is just one part of the role. You will need to be a really proactive self-starter, accustomed to working with team members to ensure the timely & efficient delivery of projects. Other required skills include:
- Highly efficient and organised
- Confident to work remotely and experience doing so
- Experience using Microsoft 365
- Experience project managing Qualitative research (independently or with support)
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Ability to and experience with working on multiple projects at one time (independently or with support)
- Collaborative
We see the role being full time, 4.5-days per week, but would be open to a 4-day week - so would consider flexible arrangements, e.g. working only during school hours.
Every role at HKR is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, sexual orientation, or gender identity (or any other aspect that makes you, you!); and we actively welcome applications from applicants less traditionally represented in the market research world.
What you’d get
As well as a salary commensurate with experience (£24-£28K p/a), you will get a share of equity in the business. You will get access to various benefits including health insurance, life insurance, a pension, generous holiday entitlement, and volunteering days if you choose to take them. Flexibility is built in to how we work, and as per the above we are keen to consider various flexible working arrangements. And most of all… you’ll be joining a great team who genuinely care about the work we do and making a difference in the world (and who have lots of fun along the way!).
We are keen to fill this role ASAP, so in your email please let us know when you would be able to start so we have this in mind from the beginning of the recruitment process (though we could potentially wait for the right person!). We look forward to hearing from you.
N.B. please note that whilst we are very keen to work with people from a range of backgrounds we are London based, with a hybrid working model, meaning mostly remote working with the occasional (weekly / fortnightly) meeting in London - either with the team or with clients. This means all applicants will need to have the right to live and work in the UK. Whilst we wish we could sponsor a visa, being a small agency we are unable to do so.
